Herders have no issues shutting out Three Forks

The Sweet Grass County football team enjoyed a 41-0 shutout win — the second of the season for the Herders — after a trip to Three Forks on Oct. 6.

As an offense, the Herders (4-3, 3-2 South Region) posted 428 total offense yards, 323 of which came on the ground. For the third-straight week, John Rennie was past the 100-yard mark with 192 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Orry Carroccia helped out the rushing efforts with 79 yards on 11 carries and a score. Blake Finn bursted in from for a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Nathan Baker had a score on one of his five carries.

As a team, SGHS ran the ball 51 times to its 13 passing attempts. Finn was 3-for-9 with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Hayden Mosness, but also threw one pick. Dawson Laverell came in for relief, briefly, throwing 3-for-4 and 76 yards.

Carroccia was also a secondary receiver, hauling in two catches for 41 yards. Mosness had two catches for 55 yards and his one score.

Defensively, the Herders swarmed Three Forks (2-4, 1-4 South Region) quarterback for most of the night. Ethan Bullock recorded the Herders’ lone sack of the night, but both Carroccia and Reilly Lannen got QB hits on the quarterback. Kell Schwers was able to come up with an interception and so did Nathan Baker — who returned his 19 yards.
